Your aspirations: 11 questions to ask yourself (and your co-founders) before you start building your start-up

A truly interesting book: The New Business Road Test  by John Mullins. It reminded me of the importance of having clear goals for oneself. Every entrepreneur has different sets of aspirations: it is critical to understand them from the beginning in order to build the business you want.

"Begin with the end in mind "– Steven Covey

These questions are here to help clarify what kind of business you’d like to create:

·        1. Why do you want to build a startup?

·       2.  What do you expect from this startup?

·       3.  How much time are you willing to devote to it?

·        4. How much money are you willing to invest in it?

·       5.  How high a priority is it going to be in your life?

·       6.  How big a company do you want to create? How many people? How much profit?

·        7. What role do you want to have in this business? Employee/Technician? Manager/Coordinator?  8.President/CEO? Business Owner?

·       9. What exit strategy do you plan on having?

·      10.  For how long do you want to be running it?

·        11. How much risk are you ready to take?

If you have co-founders, you could use these questions to check that your expectations are aligned.
