Five futuristic AI technologies that will change our lives radically
The future is not that far, in some cases it is here, present in it’s incipient forms, so the world imagined by SF literature and films is closer than we think.
All five technologies follow the paradigm we are in, the first is the speed, the next is mobility and efficiency (robotic), etc.
But what are these technologies? A group of
researchers at the University of Leicester have described these technologies
based on recent advances and current patterns.
1. Smart homes
This innovation is in its infancy. There are already
ways to connect digital devices to the light, security, and air conditioning
network. Only with a mobile phone can they be controlled without too much
effort.
There is, however, an important step to incorporate all
these aspects of the home into one technology, which in turn acts in the user’s
place. For example, the washing machine recognizes the type of
clothing and can thus select the type of washing itself.
Also, the efficiency of electronics can be maximized in
relation to consumption, which is desirable for any household, but for the time
being it is almost impossible to keep track of it.
2. Virtual secretary
A secretary
must be a person at least “multitasking”, must be able to carry out a variety
of activities that require time and concentration, and moreover, he must have
flexibility in incredible thinking, adapting to dynamic conditions From a
company. Even people with these capabilities can cling to such conditions.
Here comes
the technology, or, more precisely, artificial intelligence, which can
better incorporate all these activities and which can adapt to the ever
changing conditions involved in a group of people.
And here is
an incipient phase, namely doodle.com, a program that is able to find the best
meeting time according to the availability of the employees. However, it
is a long way to create the perfect secretary and very likely, it exists only
in human form (for various reasons).
3. AI doctors
Progress in
medicine and artificial intelligence can converge to create a future health
system.
A private
company called Babylon Health carries out tests that include chatbot
consultations. Artificial intelligence was trained using a massive amount
of data to help patients go to the emergency, pharmacy, or stay home.
The company
claims that it will be able to develop a system that in the future will do
better than doctors in conducting diagnostics.
It is obvious
that such innovation would completely change the health system, but that does
not mean that the doctors will be put aside. This is a case in which
people and cars have to work together: cars make the diagnosis and people treat
that disease. Taking part in the pregnancy will help doctors concentrate
on providing more effective treatments and research work.
4. Robot-servants
This is a
common picture in imagined futuristic worlds: a robot performing a series of
household tasks. The progress of artificial intelligence that brings
with its better processing of a wide range of information, this technology is
already possible.
Such a robot
can be effective in facial recognition and can guide visitors to the desired
location.
As in the previous case, this innovation will not replace human caretakers (perhaps not
in all cases), but complement them. While the robot deals with
cleanliness, a man can take care of an old person, this activity requiring
empathy – which would not be the task of a car.
Further
progress is needed in order to be able to develop a robot in a chaotic
environment, but current progress already shows this direction.
5. Flying depots and cars that drive alone
Cars running
alone are probably the most amazing technology that is being investigated
today. Despite being mistaken, they can turn out to be safer than
manual-driven cars.
These machines
will be based on the use of an impressive number of sensors placed on all sides
of the machine. These can be extremely useful for sales companies, such as
Amazon, who would ship their products faster, cheaper, and more efficiently.
Moreover, not only simple products can be transported,
but entire warehouses, which would further increase efficiency. Such a
mobile deposit may move closer to the area where the demand is higher for a
particular product.
